With over two decades of trusted experience and a wealth of expertise in start-ups, venture capital, and mergers and acquisitions, Geoff brings valuable insights to our investment strategies, ensuring strategic growth and sustainable success in the dynamic financial landscape.

Geoff Thomas serves as the Senior Investment Manager at Paspalis Corporation, where he plays a pivotal role in driving strategic investment decisions and contributing to the success of the Paspalis Innovation Investment Fund (PIIF) Investment Committee.

With over 20 years of trusted relationship with Paspalis Corporation, Geoff has established himself as a key figure in the company’s investment management landscape. He holds the role of Responsible Manager under the company’s Australian Financial Services License, underscoring his commitment to compliance and regulatory standards in the financial sector.

Geoff’s expertise extends across various domains, including start-ups, early expansion investment funds, venture capital, private equity, and mergers and acquisitions. His depth of experience in managing diverse investment portfolios adds significant value to the Investment Committee, enabling strategic decision-making and maximising returns on investments.

In his role as Investment Manager for PIIF, Geoff is instrumental throughout the full deal management process. From conducting due diligence to negotiating deals and preparing legal documents, Geoff ensures meticulous attention to detail and strategic alignment with investment goals. Geoff is the Principal of Axant Corporate Advisory, his track record includes contributing to and leading the acquisition or investment in over 16 companies, along with multiple divestments to both listed and private companies.

Geoff’s career journey began in the Defence industry in Australia, where he served as the Director of Operations for Vision Defence, a Top 10 Defence company specialising in electronic warfare and spatial databases. In his Defence industry career he has worked for periods in the USA, the UK, France and Israel.  He joined Vision Defence as one of five professional staff.  After 30% CAGR over 13 years, it was sold to Tenix Defence Systems for $74 million, with a $90 million order book, and 180 staff, most of whom reported through him.

Outside his corporate responsibilities, Geoff is actively involved in philanthropic endeavours. He chairs the Thylation group, focusing on protecting native mammals through innovative technology solutions. His previous directorial roles in listed companies like Invitrocue (ASX: IVQ) and BresaGen (ASX: BGN) reflect his commitment to corporate governance and ethical business practices.

Geoff’s professional achievements are underscored by his academic credentials, including a Masters in Business Administration, First Class Honours in Electronics Engineering, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has served as a State Councillor in South Australia, further highlighting his leadership and expertise in corporate governance.
